hiPod by Josh Rubin
Isamu Sanada speculates future Apple designs. His latest, hiPod, is a wristwatch / mp3 player / cell phone / pda. Whether or not Apple will launch a smartphone remains to be seen, but this concept (as well as his hiPhone concept) have me fantasizing about the possibility.

iPhone Review and Wish List
Having designed the touch-based user interface that has been on Motorola's 'A' series of multimedia phones in China since 2004, my critique of the iPhone comes from a unique, and overly educated perspective. It's not Apple's vision for the iPhone that I find admirable—there isn't much about it that's truly new—it's their ability to execute. After spending the last ten days with my iPhone...

iPhone
The big news from Apple today of course is the hotly-anticipated iPhone that combines a widescreen iPod, a GSM phone and internet connectivity into one device—Steve Jobs calls it, "a revolution of the first order." With over 200 patents on features like a multi-touch user interface and a sensor that automatically switches between landscape and portrait mode, he just might be right. Here are...

I'm that guy that has a new cell phone every couple months-- constantly trying to find one that I love from top to bottom, and I'm hard to please. I just swapped from a Treo600 to a Blackberry 7100t after an enticing set of deals. My first impressions-- I'm so used to a touch screen from the Treo that I find myself tapping the...

Mobile Payments
As the quest to consolidate wallet contents in to the mobile phone continues, we still look to Japan as the technological innovator. Next month trials will begin to test the use of mobile phones for subway fare payment. No worries about dialing up the right screen or sending off a text message, the entire transaction will be handled by a small chip manufactured by...

Biodegradable Mobile Phones
Well... not the entire phone. University of Warwick, together with PVAXX R&D, have created a prototype mobile phone casing, made of a biodegradable polymer. To exaggerate (and beautify) the point, they embedded a sunflower seed in the case so that once it goes back to the earth a sun flower will grow. via Treehugger...
