Contemporary Art Museum: Niteroi, Rio, Brazil
by Josh Rubin
Oscar Niemeyer is undoubtedly Brazil's most influential modern architect. I was only able to see a small sampling of his work, but was blown away by the Contemporary Art Museum in Niteroi (outside of Rio). This Jetson's fabulous structure looks like progressive 50's Modern, but was actually completed in 1996. Especially genius is how the alien structure harmonizes with surrounding nature. Check out the rest of the pics to see what I'm talking about.
Sidewalks in Rio
by Josh Rubin
The sidewalks all along the beach in Rio are a lovely modern checkerboard pattern made from imported Portugese stone.
Graffiti in Rio
by Josh Rubin
The first in a series of posts about Rio. The graffiti around the city is pretty amazing.
Adidas Eco
by Josh Rubin
Among other finds in Rio were these simple, sensible, summer kicks. From what I could gather, they're made from hemp and have recycled rubber soles. I can't find any info about these through Adidas or the sneaker sites, so if you know their story please share.
