Hoffi Design Co by Josh Rubin

Hoffi is a design & writing team that used to do magazines and tv stuff. Now they make T-Shirts. Don't know if they use American Apparel stock (the absolute requirement for fit and quality!), but the designs are quite nice.

Squidfire Hoodie
Just over a year old, the Baltimore-based line Squidfire now boasts a whole range of goods hand-printed on manual presses with their original designs. In addition to Vans (actually hand-painted), messenger bags and a line for kids, they've recently introduced hoodies, like this "Workout" sweatshirt (pictured left, $45) that features overlapping images of a smiling 70's-era muscleman in red, blue and black on grey....

Moonblood
Drawing on Native American and Egyptian imagery, Philadelphia-based Moonblood tees are the handiwork of RISD alum and former Urban Outfitters/Free People designer Amy Eldon. Made in small editions, her hand drawn graphics are in keeping with Moonblood's use of Alternative Apparel and American Apparel tees and "a fascination with imagery evoking the feeling of places and spaces." Many tees feature blends, like a poly-cotton-rayon,...

Apparently, mythological creatures aren't only found in forests and lakes these days. Urbanyetti has been sited in cities worldwide, on t-shirts, and on this (suitably scared-looking) baby's onesie. The brainchild of San Francisco-based artist and one-time Nickolodeon prop designer Aaron Terry, adult sizes come in either black or baby blue, onesies are on soft white, and they're all silkscreened on 100% cotton American Apparel....

AA: The Big Pink Factory
While here in LA I took the opportunity to visit the factory of one of our sponsors, American Apparel. While I already knew they were a socially responsible and totally hip place, it was fantastic to see it in person. It has been a long time since I've met such a happy, enthusiastic and hard working bunch of people. And it shows in the...
