The NYTimes actually analyzed the dog licensing data for the city and came up with their own Doggy Census. The survey includes most popular breeds by neighborhood and most popular names.

We're getting another dog in a couple weeks and have been working through several name possibilities. It would be nice if there was a way to search for names by the number of letters.
